Elementary E-Notes. January 9, 2017
Principal’s Note: Dear Parents, Welcome back to school! We are happy to have your children with us today and are excited to be starting back on our learning journey! With the inclement weather, please be sure to label your children’s clothing so we can help them locate any lost items. As we do every year, items in our Lost and Found (near the entrance and by the Tower) will be bagged and donated to a local charity our first week back in January. Please take the time to check the Lost and Found! Warmly, Jen Munnerlyn esoffice@aswarsaw.org Important Upcoming Dates to Note:
Math Kangaroo- An International Math Contest (Grades 1-5) There is an international math competition called Math Kangaroo. This competition was first started in the 1980s and now has over 5,000,000 participants worldwide. Math Kangaroo is a challenging math test that is open to children across the grades. This will be the first time the American School of Warsaw participates! This is an optional event/test that will take place during school hours. If you are interested in your child participating in this test, please read this entire letter. The Math Kangaroo test will take place during school hours on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at ASW. Students from grades 1 - 5 can participate. This test is multiple choice and will be in English. The questions have been developed by a small committee who create questions that are challenging and require logical, out-of-the box thinking. The Polish organisers of this event will give each participant a certificate and a small math prize. Also, ASW will offer each participant a Math Kangaroo t-shirt for a small fee. More information will come home with your child this week. (Questions? Contact our ES Math Coach Ann-Marie Cetlinska: acetlinska@aswarsaw.org ) Library Update The library book exchange station will continue in the ES Tower until the library cleaning is completed. This may take another week, so please visit us in the Tower to return and exchange books. Yearbook We found just before the break that portrait photos for the yearbook cannot be uploaded outside the school domain. Please log in with a student account to upload a photo on this form. For name verification please write how you would like your name and nationality to appear in the yearbook using this form. Thank you from the yearbook staff. Stephen Miele (Questions?
