Principal’s Note:

Picture
Dear Parents,

In the Elementary School, we paint, we climb, we sit on the carpet and run (until we are nice and sweaty) in PE! We also play outside in all weather and at times get wet and dirty.

Being energetic and creative is a big part of our PYP program and allows students to grow and develop as active, healthy children.

As mentioned a few weeks ago, it is important students come to school in clothes they can play in.

It was lovely to see so many of you at our PTO Quiz Night on Saturday. Thank you for supporting our school.

Warmly,
Jen Munnerlyn
ASW Elementary Principal

Parent Partnership Video Series!

Have you wondered what learning is like for your child?

Each month, we hope to showcase student learning via short videos highlighting a particular aspect of our program. Additionally, these videos aim to inform parents about best-practices in education, instructional strategies teachers are using, and develop an understanding of what it means to educate the whole-child.

Important Reminder- Changes to a Student’s Routine
It is important that we stay in contact with you regarding any changes to your child’s routines.

Attendance:

Please contact your child’s teacher to let us know why you child is absent. Between 8:45-10:00 AM, please also add the ES Office on any communication to teachers. ([email protected]). If we do not hear from you, we will call to check in.

After School Pick-Up:
If you will have someone other than yourself (or your spouse or other school registered guardian) pick your child up from school, please send an email to the homeroom teacher, including the name and phone number of the person picking the child up.

If the change in routine occurs during After School Activities, please email the homeroom teacher, your child’s ASA Sponsor, and our ASA Coordinators: Stephen Siddaway and Neil Riley: ( [email protected], [email protected] )

Parents Out of Town:

If you leave Warsaw and your child will be staying with someone else, we need to know:
  • Who your child will be with and the relation to the child?
  • For how long?
  • Phone numbers so we can reach this person in case of an emergency.
  • Parent contact details while away.
  • If you are out of town for any length of time, we will require documentation of legal guardianship.

All information should be sent, in an email, to the homeroom teacher.

We will not release a child into the care of another adult without written permission by the parents.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

(Questions: Please email Jen Munnerlyn: [email protected])

ES Carnival- February 9, 2018
Please check teacher blogs for more specific information.

The Elementary School will be celebrating “Carnival” on Friday, February 9. We are excited to offer an event which highlights our host country of Poland, while offering us an opportunity to have fun learning about other countries and their celebrations too!

The Polish Culture and Language teachers, together with our homeroom teachers, will be helping students inquire into this traditional celebration and how it is presented around the world. Here in Poland, Carnival is typically celebrated prior to Ash Wednesday. People wear costumes and eat traditional donuts called Pączki.

On Friday, February 9, students should come to school already in their costumes.
First thing, we will parade through the school hallways. Parents are welcome to stay and watch our parades:

8:45-9:05 1st and 2nd Grade Parade
9:10-9:30 Parade 3, 4, 5th Grade Parade
*Based on feedback from last year- PK/K will celebrate in age-appropriate ways in their own classrooms.
(Questions? Please contact your child’s teacher.)

Parent Volunteers Needed for our ES Carnival! We are planning our 2nd Annual ES Carnival event and need parent volunteers to make the day a success for all students. Would you be willing to help? If so, please contact our Polish teachers, Ms. Cechnicka ([email protected]) or Ms. Gozdecka ([email protected]).

Dziękujemy!

Photo Retakes and Frames!
We are pleased to announce that the frames for this school year photos have arrived. Please double-check your photo package to see what size/quantity you ordered. The frames are available to collect at the Communications Office between 8.30-16.30.  We would also like to ask everyone, who has not yet done so, to complete the survey and voice your opinion on the quality of this year school photos as well as the process in general. Finally, please be informed that an additional photo session for all new students or those who were absent during the September session is scheduled for Mon-Wed, March 26th-28th.
(Questions? Please contact Agnieszka Swietliczko- Director of Communication: [email protected])
